What Is XEOMIN?
Although you may have smiled, frowned, laughed, and made other expressions without any lasting effects when you were young, you may now be realizing that the facial wrinkles created by these expressions are staying, even after your face has relaxed. These lines are known as dynamic wrinkles and are caused when the facial muscle stays contracted from overuse, creating etched lines in the overlying skin. XEOMIN is an injectable wrinkle relaxer that, like BOTOX®, periodically relaxes the facial muscles with purified botulinum toxin type A so these dynamic wrinkles look softer and smoother. At Body Bar MD in Carmel, IN, we provide several aesthetic and medical dermatology procedures, including XEOMIN nonsurgical wrinkle relaxer treatments. Am I a Candidate for XEOMIN?
XEOMIN can help if you want to diminish the look of dynamic wrinkles on your face, like forehead lines, Crow's feet, smile and laugh lines, or frown lines. XEOMIN is best if you are in good general health, are not currently pregnant, and have not had an allergic reaction to any other botulinum toxin products (BOTOX or Dysport®). Talk to our team during your consultation about your medical history, current medications, and your aesthetic goals so we can customize a XEOMIN treatment plan that is specific to you.
How Does XEOMIN Work?
XEOMIN treatments at Body Bar MD usually take under 30 minutes from beginning to end and can be performed in our procedure room after your consult. The parts of the face being treated will be cleaned and sterilized before XEOMIN is meticulously injected with a dermal needle. The procedure is fast, and most patients experience mild or no discomfort so local anesthesia is not necessary but can be requested during your consultation. Cold compresses and pressure will be applied to the injection sites to prevent minor bleeding prior to you leaving.
What Results Can I Expect from XEOMIN?
You will be able to leave our office immediately after your XEOMIN injections to return to your normal activities; however, heavy activities should be avoided until the following day. We may recommend that you sleep with your head elevated and apply cold compresses as needed to expedite recovery and results. In the days after a XEOMIN injection, you may experience swelling, bruising, and redness at the injection sites, but these symptoms are common and can be easily concealed with makeup. Many individuals notice obvious improvements 3 – 4 days following their XEOMIN injection lasting up to three months. Touch-ups at Body Bar MD can be scheduled to optimize your results.
How much does XEOMIN cost?
Your cost for a XEOMIN treatment will depend on the amount needed to match your needs. In your initial consultation, you will share your cosmetic goals so your treatment plan can be created and then calculate an estimate of your cost. Body Bar MD accepts many forms of payment and sometimes has specials on XEOMIN and nonsurgical treatments.
Should I get XEOMIN or BOTOX?
Both XEOMIN and BOTOX are injectable wrinkle relaxers activated by a purified strain of botulinum toxin. The skilled injectors at Body Bar MD understand the differences between wrinkle relaxers, so they can decide which will deliver the desired results for each patient. In your consult, your injector will understand your concerns before helping you decide if XEOMIN or BOTOX should be used.
Should I get XEOMIN or fillers?
Injectable wrinkle relaxers like XEOMIN improve dynamic wrinkles, especially the frown lines between your eyebrows (glabellar lines). A dermal filler treats static wrinkles and adds volume. Talk to your injector about your needs/concerns and goals so they can determine if you should get XEOMIN, a dermal filler, or a combination of both.
Is XEOMIN safe?
XEOMIN has been approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration as a cosmetic wrinkle treatment, which can be used safely on most patients. In your initial consultation, your injector will ask several questions, for example, any known allergies plus all medications, herbs, and supplements you are using. You need to be honest with your answers to avoid unnecessary side effects or complications.
How often should I get XEOMIN injections?
Results from a XEOMIN treatment may be visible for up to three months. Each person will metabolize XEOMIN differently, which determines how long their treatment lasts. In your consult, your injector will talk about how soon you should schedule your next appointment.
